I’ve had this laptop only 2 yrs if that and never had a battery problem. It’s usually always plugged in. I woke up one morning to a blinking battery light. It blinks, orange orange orange blue.
Just trying to figure it out so I don’t have to call Dell support Thinking it might have a battery issue, but it says it’s 100% charged. Thanks in advance!
This usually means that your battery has a lower charge, 15% or less left, you could simply try turning off you computer, taking out and then reinserting the battery.
Battery charge is low and its going to drain out soon . You got to charge your laptop !
i have an old dell inspiron 8200. After plugging the laptop in, the little light under the picture of a battery with a lightening bolt flashes orange 3 times, green once, then off, repeat. What does this mean?
So, it seems like you might need a new battery.
If the battery status light rapidly flashes orange, the battery may be defective. Contact Dell (see “Contacting Dell” in the Dell™ Owner’s Manual that came with your computer).
all i know its a dell and there are words on it like
It means the battery is criticly low.
It’s the colored laptops, and some of the lyrics are:
I am green today, i chirp with joy like a cricket’s song
I am orange today, loud and messy like finger paint
If anyone knows the song title or artist it would be a great help! Thanks xx

Try MSI Wind
A very very VERY crappy old Dell laptop with 512MB RAM and XP.
I want a laptop cause my dad never gets off the Computer to play a game on the internet. the laptop has to be a descent Computer With basic functions like wifi and hd screen but dosnt need to be fancy. i dont care if it is balk. i would rather have a cd drive other than a netbook. thank you
You can’t get much for $300, other than a netbook. You may be able to get a refurbished from Tigerdirect.com.
When you consider that with a USB port, you can add ALL the external portable storage you want, and then you can KEEP on adding all the external portable storage you want… The size of your internal laptop hard drive becomes irrelevant. Windows Vista and Windows 7 take up around 5 gb. XP takes up less than that. You add in the software you need, and you might be looking at 40 to 60gb.
Now. You want to put your music somewhere? Why would you put it on the hard drive inside the computer? What is going to happen when the OS gets fragged with Malware and Spyware and a Virus or three, and you have to reinstall your OS, and you LOSE ALL THAT MUSIC? Ok, it might be movies. It might be games. However, regardless of what it might be, the fact of the matter is that every professional in the business of computers will agree that when it comes to media of any kind, it is better to put it on a separate drive, and preferably a portable one. This way, if for any reason whatsoever, you have to reinstall Windows, you do not have to touch your media in any way.
So, why not reconsider the ONLY specification you are asking about here? Whether or not your new potential laptop has a 320gb hard drive, or a 250gb hard drive, or a 160gb hard drive is not all that important. How smart you are about where you put the things you want to save, is FAR more important.
And… You are far more likely to find something with a 40gb hard drive, for the money you want to spend. Just want to get you ready for that. Want to see?
end of line

Check out Best Buy or Ebay they might be delivering it to Morocco.
Just to add (not a Chennai) but Dell does stink.
I presume you mean in the UK?
I know that scan (http://www.scan.co.uk/Finance/Index.aspx) offer a finance service after buying £300 online – where you pay a percent up front (say 10%) then after 9 months you have to pay the rest of the amount off…. Or start paying off with instalments at a high %.
Hope this helps?

I’m a fashion stylist and travel around a lot. My upcoming event will be going to Germany in the spring time. I have a Mac Book now and don’t plan on taking it with me. I was thinking of either getting a net book or a mini laptop. I was looking into the Dell minis, and wondering if they’re all that good. I’m mostly going to use it for checking email and internet. I’m not going to be saving big files or anything like that, so I won’t need a lot of ram. And if you don’t like the Dell, may you please suggest any other net book or mini laptop that would work well?
Dell minis are fantastic. I always carry extras with me when I’m on the run. People are always like, “Hey can I have some Dell minis.”
Thru this site, I learned that a laptop rather than a net book was better for me to travel. I am now looking at a Dell or a Toshiba. I’m trying to decide which processor to select that will last me about 5 years w/o trouble, Intel or AMD Turion. Also, I have a Dell desktop, and I’ve had trouble with the monitor. I’m wondering if I should try a Toshiba as I’m reading troublesome reviews about Dell. Any advice I receive would be very much appreciated! Maggie J, retired secretary
Get a toshiba they are very relaible and Intel proceesers are slightly better than Amd as intel have been around a LOT longer than amd. Hope this helps
tell me which I should get or any other net book.
For the price, unless you need a larger HDD I would get the 9.
I have a net book, dell mini. Just had Verizon installed. Its there router that we are using, It works fine for my laptop but i cant get the net book to work. To the best of my knowledge there is no operating system(there shouldn’t be with a net book, but tech guy was pushing that there was).
one problem i see is that the router says there needs to be a 40/64 bit connection, but the book dosen’t have that
what do i do. thanks
I have 3 O.S.es on my netbook, Windows 7 starter, Windows Vista (only partition to hold recovery), and eeebuntu (linux). Wireless is built-in and it connects right up to my wireless router. Maybe they configured the router to only allow that laptop to access the router. If you have access to the documentation to the router you can check the settings. Like does it use MAC filtering or some other such nonsense to prevent your netbook from connecting. There could be many reasons why it doesn’t connect. Looks like you have a lot more reading to do.
Okay about a year ago i got this dell laptop, well a net book but they keys snap on and off easily, so a few months ago i was cleaning my keyboard and a little plastic clip broke off the back of the key, so for a few months i’v been using small amounts of glue from a glue stick to make it stay, it worked pretty well until now. now it just pops right back up when i put it back on with new glue ( i do clean the old glue off) but now it wont stay, and its embarrassing to have a missing key from my laptop when i go to school and stuff any solutions?
Dell laptops have very poorly made and designed keyboards. That happens with EVERY Dell laptop I’ve seen for a while. The only way to fix it (temporarily) is to replace the keyboard. I hope you have a warranty…

Obstacles in life can hold you back from pressuring your dreams or achieving you goals. Everyone has something during some point of their life that holds them back. Getting around those obstacles is what makes you stronger. An obstacle is something that gets in the way of progress. In The Odyssey, the main character, Odysseus, faces many obstacles on his venture back to his home. I know many people who have faced obstacles just like Odysseus did. I have also faced many obstacles in my life. One of the biggest obstacles today is poverty. Many families are being affected by the recession. Parents are being laid off, and jobs that normally would go to teens, adults are competing for. Some ways to overcome this obstacle is, to cut back on unnecessary spending, electricity and water use in your home. Another good way to save is to by the cheaper food at the grocery store or the “off brand,” food.
Most people are pretty used to going out and being about to whatever they want. One ways to overcome the obstacle of poverty is to only buy what you need, instead of what you want. For example, rather than buying that new laptop you’ve wanted to buy, save your money to put towards gas money, or a utility bill. I know most people would opt for the laptop, but it will pay off in the long run.
The next way to save some cash is to buy the “off brand” food rather than name brand. When you go to the grocery store you will the colorful containers of food and there are also the bland containers. Which one has the lower price? The bland one, which is usually the “off brand” one. It also is usually the cheaper one. Some people may think “It’s cheap and nasty,” but to be honestly, I’m sure it tastes just as good. It will also save you a few dollars.
The last way to save some additional money is to use fewer utilities in your home. Some ways to do that are to, turn the water off while your brushing your teeth, turn the lights off in the rooms nobody’s in, and unplug and electronics not in use. The plus side to this is your also helping the environment. So it’s like “killing two birds with one stone.” Not only are you saving money but you are also saving the environment.
Always remember that any obstacle can be overcome. If Odysseus made it through his journey home, you can make it through your journey through life.
Btw, Im 14. a Freshmen:D haha. Sooo. im not like in college or anything.
4 GREAT paper and meaning to it but a few grammar errors
I originally wanted one with a dedicated graphics card of 256mb but obviously that is wanging the price up!
What I can’t decide is if my impatience should overall my desire!
I could save up for a bit and get a great laptop which will play my games (bit of a Sims addict sadly) or I could get one now and use it for the internet, word processing etc.
Just wondered if anyone with a bit more knowledge than myself could recommend either a reasonably priced gamers laptop or if the general con-census is just to suck it up and get a cheaper laptop.
I do have a desktop with a very good graphics card but I like the convenience of the laptop as I can’t really hulk the desktop from room to room.
Whichever way I go – could anyone advise on what brand and/or spec is best to go for – or at least where to go for the best deals? I reckon my budget is somewhere between £250 and up to a max of £650/£700 if i save for a while (thought the desktop cost me that so I’d rather stick to the lower/middle range of my budget.
Thanks in advance for any help.
If you’re looking for affordable performance, you should get the Sony Vaio NR or NS. Its affordable and it probably has enough performance to play The Sims. Besides, Sony is a good brand.=D
Well, my really old Dell Desktop broke like a year ago because it was made like in 2000 and now my Parents are going to buy me this cool looking Dell Laptop that they found at Best Buy for like 400$ which is a really good price but will a 400$ Dell be good for online games like Maplestory or Gunz? Because a bunch of my friends play Maplestory and a bunch of my friends play Gunz but will a 400$ Dell Laptop be enough for like low lag or no lag on the Online games? ( We also have High Speed Internet)
-Thanks for your time from Jay
You’ll want a least a core 2 duo processor or better for games. Celeron & AMD’s budget processor or an atom processor are NOT recommended for gaming. For 500 bucks you can get a laptop with a core 2 duo or an i3 processor loaded with 4 gigs of ram. Idea for games. Other things to look for are the video graphics card. If it’s integrated, it might not be fast enough. Preferably, would be a graphics card that does NOT use ‘shared’ graphics memory. You’ll want a card with it’s own built-in memory for smoother results. Shop around and you’ll be able to find a great laptop for gaming at any price.
A laptop typically has more power to it, and can contain more information. It can also let you install a wider range of applications, compared to a Blackberry. That’s the reason laptops are larger than Blackberry’s though. The fact that Blackberry’s are meant solely for business or mobile e-mail or stuff like that.

i recently bought a laptop here in canada and i am currently here and i want to watch tv shows online from the uk but i am unable too as i am not living there, what can i do to view the shows? do i need to change my ip address??
If you are looking for multi-lingual tv, online tv social community, social tv network, internet tv stations, tv channels, free global internet tv, broadband channels, live webcast, customized tv programmes, After testing various TV software and visiting loads of sites. Most of them offer a free trial or preview and then they make you pay to sign up, or are cluttered with ads. I think that is ridiculous… So ive done my research and have found a couple of really decent sites. The first one Id like to draw your attention to is (http://www.viewmy.tv) This site has almost 1300 channels from around the globe and counting. It is free to register and they dont ask for stupid details, just your username and email address. It actually streams live channels so you dont have to download any and they have a pretty easy way of finding the channel you want. You can search through genre, country, region or name of the channel. Oh and there are no ads either. Check this one out. With over 1300 channels from hundreds of countries, loads of features like channel rating, user recommendations, live chat, profile pages and much much more.
I ‘ve been interested in buying a mac laptop for a while now. I’m going to New York this weekend and I’m wondering if the prices will be lower there than here in Canada. I’m looking for the cheapest way to get my laptop. I’m a highschool student so I can’t get the student discount yet. Is ordering online a good way? or is the states cheaper than Canada?
Apple.com is the american Prices Apple.ca is the canadian prices. Also the warranty might not be valid in canada so you better ask when your in NY.
I will be purchasing a dell laptop via online off the canadian site. Now Iam living in nyc and will be using the laptop in the US. I can only buy the laptop from canada because iam planning on financing and I can’t do it with the american carrier because I don’t have a line of credit. I just need to know because iam not at all computer savy, will my laptop function properly here in the states things like wi fi and setting up an internet connection warranty and whatever els. Please shine some light on this issue of mine thank you it will be much appreciated!
All technology standards are the same for Canada and the USA. So you will have 0 problems with compatibility. However in terms of your warranty chances are it will be limited to Canadian residents only, but that really depends on how its legally defined in the contract. Because Dell is in both the USA and Canada the warranty could be unilateral, so it’s worth checking with a Dell rep just to make sure.
I checked out the newegg.ca website but it’s really overpriced.
Any thoughts about ewiz.com. They sell some laptops at really low price compared to even newegg.com. They also offer free ground shipping.
Do you know any other online stores (which ship to Canada)?
I was searching to buy a laptop and i came across the thinkpads. I was considering buying the t-series and now i need to know where to go. I live in canada, and would prefer to buy it in person rather than online. Is there a retailer that sells new thinkpads in canada?
I can’t search it for you without narrowing it down to a couple dozen km..
Check the “where to buy ” link on the Lenovo site – link below.

U can find this stuff at any authorised dealer in any city of India.
My laptop is not able to connect to the wireless Internet. It shows that it is connected to wireless Internet and signal strength is excellent but it it does not open web browser or any IM. Even when I insert the LAN cable directly it does not work. It worked in USA but now in India it is not working. I took it to a friend’s place in India and it worked there. He did something and now the desktop on same connection shows that there is conflict of IP address with other system on network. My laptop is windows XP.
Sounds like your friend hard coded an IP address into the laptop.
Control Panel > Network icon
Find the wireless card and right click on it and select Properties
In the list on install protocols you should see TCP/IP
Select TCP/IP and click the Properties button
See whether it is set to obtain an IP address automatically or to use one that has been typed in.
If there is an IP address typed in, write down the information first
Then change it to “obtain one” instead

Hi, I recently reinstalled the OS (Windows XP Home Premium) on my Dell Laptop(Inspiron 5150). After that I am unable to play any CDs or DVDs in the DVD+RW drive(manufacturer:NEC). I saw that the Region of the Player is set to 1. I want to reset it to 5 as I am located in India now(I had bought the laptop in the US earlier). I checked that my user has Administrator Privileges(from Control Panel –> User Accounts). I also have Changes Remaining = 4 , in the DVD Player. There, when I tried to change the region to 5, it gives error with message “DVD Region change error – Please check that you have Administrator Privileges and there is a media in the drive”. Then I put a region 5 media, e.g a CD into the drive and tried to change the region again, but it again gives the same error. Can anybody please help me , how to change the region to 5 ? Inspite of having a DVD+RW player, I am unable to play any DVDs/CDs, how sad ! Please help…

What’s the best laptop to get right now?
I’m looking to get a laptop. Open suggestions, so suggest away. Not really leaning towards a mac but i want something i can use for university as well as being able to surf the net? i would like to be able to buy from future shop or best buy
I’d like something affordable though
You are looking to buy a laptop.
As you mestioned that you want laptop for study and for suffering net.
So if your budget is near about forty to fifty thousand then it is better to buy dell laptop(i dont know series of laptop) Dell laptop is top in performance and speed. And you will take antivirus service pack.
My five-year old Dell Inspiron 4150 has cracked screen hinges, overheats a lot and is generally acting slow and clumsy and I want to replace it with something. DURABLE build quality is a top priority (right now, the hinge problem prevents me from removing it off my desk. I’d like the replacement to not wear down as easily as this one did, from opening/closing the screen), but apart from that, I want a QUIET laptop and, finally, it should be relatively new because I enjoy standard features such as Wifi, DVD-R (or RW), a widescreen (the tougher, newer style of screen if possible), etc.
At Fry’s I saw all these features in $600 HPs and Compaqs, so I am hoping someone will know maybe of an older model (by 1-3 years) which would fit my price range but still offer durability and general quality. Thanks
Unless you are in a big hurry, wait until the day after Thanksgiving sales. Best Buy had a Toshiba, last year for $250. Try the web site http://bfads.net to see the upcoming sales and get in line REALLY early.
I was wondering what is a good laptop to buy?
I’m trying to find one with good internet, a good graphics card for videogames( up to the BADA** graphics of Crysis), a lot of memory, video, and comes with a webcam.
Please if you have any sugestions, ideas would be great. =]
-Please and Thanks again for your guys’ help and i really appreciate it. =]]]]
I would say this one its equiped with ddr3 nice touch and 320 hard drive
also core 2 duo http://explore.toshiba.com/laptops/qosmio/X305/X305-Q706
LAPTOP- anything with AMD 64 X2.. Or Intel DUO core processors.. They are the newest technology.. Laptops have wireless capability.. And provide you with mobility and less size.. You don’t need a huge computer desk to have one.. And can put it in a bag and take it anywhere with you.. Also laptops are just as fast as computers these days.. They simply cost a bit more because the mobility.. And convenience…
Make sure you get a duel core processor… If you don’t want to pay for it now.. WAIT… It will definitely be worth it
DELL/GATEWAY USUALLY suck
Compaq, HP, Sony VAiO are very dependable and reliable through the years..

I have a Dell laptop with webcam, but I don’t know how to use it. First how do I pull up the webcam? 2. How do I connect with someone else with webcam?
Click the “Start” tab in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Select “Programs” from the list of options that appear in the drop-down menu. Select “Dell Webcam Manager” from the list of options in the new window. This program should come installed with your laptop, but if it didn’t you can download it online from the Dell website . The webcam window will pop up on your screen. Use the control panel in the webcam window to take photos and record video. Your Dell webcam is now turned on and ready for use.
You can use the webcam along with MSN, Skype etc
On the Inspiron 1525, can I use the webcam as a camera, like on the Apple MacBook? Can i make mini videos with it?
Of course you can
I haven’t installed anythig new or updated system(other than normal windows updates) It used to work fine then just stopped.
for christmas im getting a new laptop that has a built-in webcam and i was just wondering if all laptops with webcams come with a program to make your pictures funnier (like distortion or cool frames)
how can i fix my asus laptop webcam ? i got my laptop last year and it got a virus because i downloaded limewire , and i just recently got it fixed and i got everything deleted off my laptop and the man that fixed my laptop put a new webcam software called webcam max and when i got it back fixed the webcam was upside down [ my sisters laptop had a virus too so we took our laptops to get them fixed at the same time } and my sister webcam dint work at all! and then after about a 2 weeks of my webcam being upside down it just stopped working! i would like to know what to do so it can work again if i should re – install the software or if i should delete the software and get a new one. PLEASE HELLP , I MISS VIDEO CHATTINNG WITH FRIENDS

I don’t think you can go wrong with a Toshiba Satellite. Look for one on sale, they will be in your price range.
Get an extended warranty, the price won’t be too much. That warranty will also replace your battery before it poops out in 2 years.
I have an older one that is over 4 years old and still going. I paid more for it back then, now they are cheaper and with more power.
I made the mistake of buying my previous laptop with all the “bells and whistles” that I never used.
Now, I am looking for a simple computer that is fast, lots of memory, and reliable for under $500.00.
*I don’t want a used computer.
**It needs to last me for about another 4 years.
NEVER buy an acer.emachines or gateway. Just ask the IT guy at your work or school what he thinks of those brands. Do you EVER see an IT professional carry acer/emachines or gateway? NO Do you see us deploy them? NO If you buy those brands, it is unlikly it will last 4 years.
The other two computers the other guy posted are good values and will last you well. You should also look at lennovo, asus, compaq, etc (he posted dell and toshiba). But IF you choose dell (an excellent value), you should buy direct from dell, not a third party retailer.
New egg is an EXCELLENT online retailer to buy from. I’d also consider frys elecronics and tiger direct.
You can find it at
Hope this helps
K-Mart, Loblaws, Walmart (maybe LOL)
