Is it possible to find a good laptop for under 500, and if so, what brands are the ones to look for?

I’m looking mainly for one that can just surf the web and store music, pictures and videos, nothing more than that really. Does anyone know any that are a pretty good brand and sold in the $300-$499 price range and where i can get one?
