which is higher?

Donald asks…

which is best for a netbook, Windows 7 starter or Windows XP?

which will have better performance?

this is the specs for the netbook im looking at -
Intel N450 Atom 1.66GHz processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory, and a 250GB Hard Drive.

I’ve used both and theres not much of a diffrence, but if you want a much faster system you have to use an OS other then windows. I would go with XP though, windows 7 started (emphasis on starter) is a rip, you are blocked out of almost everything cause windows wants you to pay 100$ to upgrade, you can’t even change your wallpaper. Ubuntu and linux mint are open source (which means there free and good quality).

Try ubuntu its virus free, Much faster, and runs great on netbooks (has a modified version just for em, or you can use normal for a regular desktop).

linux mint is a modified version of ubuntu that has more support for windows filetypes out of the box, some diffrent starting programs, and some diffrent starter themes, all in all not much diffrence, but you can try it 2, its allitle faster but no netbook specific version is offered.

You can have both installed, so when you turn on your netbook it will let you choose which one you want to use this time around, that way you keep windows in case you ever need it (i rarely do)

Will it slow down my notebook if I upgrade it?
Is this possible to upgrade?
I Have going to get Windows 7 Ultimate from my friend.
I am planning to upgrade my ram to 2gb.

Hi Bob,

It is indeed possible to upgrade using the Windows Anytime Upgrade. Before you upgrade, I recommend downloading the Upgrade Advisor to make sure you have the necessary hardware to use features of Ultimate. Download Upgrade Advisor here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx.

If you get the green light from the Upgrade Advisor, get your Anytime Upgrade here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/windows-anytime-upgrade.

Hope you enjoy Windows 7 Ultimate!

Carol asks…

if i install itunes onto my netbook will it slow up my netbook?

i am thinking of putting itunes onto my netbook so that while i am doing work on it i have some music to listen to, if i do so will it slow my netbook up?

My netbook has 1GB of ram 160GB HDD, Intel Atom N450 at 1.66Ghz.

I have pretty much the same thing you have and I installed itunes. I haven’t noticed any significant change in speed. If you try it out, you can always uninstall it later.
