ASUS P5ND non stop freezing!?
Okay, so I got this board(ASUS P5ND) from newegg today and transferred everything from my old board ASUS P5NE-SLI which consists of:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
6GB DDR2 800Mhz. 2 Modules are 2GB and the other 2 are 1GB. The 2GB timings are 4-4-4-12 @ 1.95v and the 1GB’s are 5-5-5-15 @ 2.0v. I tried setting the timings but BIOS freezes.
700Watt Cooler Master PSU
Now this is what happens, It starts up and when loading windows it will completely freeze. When I go into the BIOS it will eventually freeze as well. I fear that if I try to flash the BIOS it will freeze in the middle of it and I will definitely be screwed. I have tried my Core 2 Duo chip and one RAM module at a time and still no luck. I really hope that this board isn’t going to have to be RMA’d. If anyone has had any issues with this same board and knows a solution please any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you.
UPDATE: I narrowed it down. The RAM is fine. It seems to be the CPU… When I put the Core 2 Duo in, it works perfect… But when I put the Core 2 Quad in, it freezes everytime. Can someone please help.
Also updated the BIOS to the latest version with the Core 2 Duo and still does the same problem with the Core 2 Quad in.
Your problem is strange. The P5ND is supposed to be compatible with the Quad core. Given that I would say it’s a problem with the MoBo.
I browsed through the customer reviews and it looks like there is quite a number of problems with the MoBo lately. It may be a bad batch. I would contact newegg and RMA it.
Asus, dell, or hp for school? Read details?
Ok I am fluctuating between 4 laptops. I am entering high school and I need a laptop, I am going to use the laptop for homework, youtube, itunes, google chrome, facebook, music and some online flash games.
Which one has best battery life and performance. If any better suggest please thanks.
Solution 1-Dell vostro v13

-13.3 inch led screen
Solution 3-asus ul20a

-intel core 2 duo su7300 (1.3 Ghz)
-4 gb ddr2 ram

I think solution 2 would be the best. They all have the same processor but solution 2 has the nvidia ion graphics. The ion platform is a great graphics platform capable of handling HD video and Blu-rays easily and so it is much much better than the others. 3GB of RAM should be enough and 250GB is fine for an small laptop like this. It should be enough for all your needs. The ion will probably result in worse battery life but only be a little bit. I think it would be well worth it so you don’t get frustrated when using things like google earth, 3d modeling, or video editing if you need to do it for school anytime. The battery should be very long regardless and will definitely last.
Would my ASUS UL20FTA1 laptop be able to run Football Manager 2009 or 2010?
I tried playing FM11 but it keeps crashing where it be after a match, during the match or just trying to start a new game. I’ve tried using a small database with only English Premier League but it just doesn’t seem able to run. These are my laptop’s information.

Is the Asus Eee PC 1201n laptop promising?
A starting price of $500 equipped with nvidia ION.
12.1-inch 1366 x 768 display (With HDMI port)
1.6GHz Intel Atom N330 dual core (I am aware that the atom isn’t very good but what about two of them?)
NVIDIA ION GeForce 9400M (These ones were originally applied to macbooks to show that they could be made into gaming computers. Personally, I hate everything apple makes but the 9400M card is one hell of a card.)
Windows 7 Home Premium (either 32 bit or 64 bit)
2GB DDR2 (upto 3GB)
250 / 320GB HDD + 500GB web-based storage
802.11b/g/n WiFI, Bluetooth, Ethernet
6 cells, 8 hours
HDMI, VGA, 3 USB 2.0 ports, SD card slot, mic, headphones
Colors are Black, or silver
Dimensions: 11.7″ x 8.2″ x 1.3
The keyboard looks really nice too. A little bit glossy. But okay.
Yes! In that category of computers it is one of the best.Like you said the keyboard is excellent. They have that cloud storage thing where you can get more than the 250GB hard drive it comes with and the battery life is pretty good, up to 10.5 hrs.
Am considering buying an ASUS BAMBOO U6V BUT?
It ticks all the boxes, light, good memory etc HOWEVER I think that it is overpriced £1200 because of the bamboo gimmick. can anyone suggest a similar laptop that meets this spec and is the same weight and size? 1.6kg and 12 ” (could go up to 13″)
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor Montevina T9400 (2.53 GHz )
HDD SATA 320GB (4200 RPM)+ TPM
12.1” (WXGA) Colour Shine
nVIDIA GeForce 9400M G 256MB
Slim 8X DVD Super Multi DL
4096 Mb DDR2 667 (2048 x 2 )
Video Camera built-in (0.3 million pixels)

Make sure there aren’t any pandas around. You know how much they love bamboos.
