Donald asks…

Which Netbook should I get?

I am going to get a netbook. That’f for sure. I’ve done all the research and it fits my needs perfectly. I went on Amazon and found 2 netbooks under my 400 dollar price range. Here they are:

ASUS Eee PC 1015PN-PU17-BK

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-1015PN-PU17-BK-10-1-Inch-Netbook-Black/dp/B0046A8WGO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

or

ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM-PU17-BK

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-1015PEM-PU17-BK-10-1-Inch-Netbook-Black/dp/B0042TYYI4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1303419562&sr=1-1

I want the 1015PN (first one) because it has a better graphics card. Nvidia ION 2, which will help when I play very light games and video. BUT I hear that Windows 7 Starter doesn’t support Optimus, which I hear helps save battery by turning the card on and off automatically. In order to get this feature I need to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium, which I am NOT going to do. Do I need Optimus to use the ION card or can I use windows starter and still use it by turning it on and off manually? But first please tell me if Nvidia ION 2 is actually better than Intel GMA 3150 on the 2nd choice. Thats my backup if I need to use Home for the first choice.

Thank you, and the person who helps me the most, I’ll mail you a cookie or something nice xD jk

answers:

The first one because it has a long lasting battery windows 7 is great and 32 bite is better then 64 bite
because more programs support 32 bit hope this helps

Laura asks…

Which laptop should i get ?

Please tell me which one you think i should get/ which one is the best and why ! THANKS ! (;

Laptop number 1 (Acer): http://www.walmart.com/ip/Acer-Acer-AOD255E-13648/15681040

Laptop number 2 (Dell): http://www.walmart.com/ip/Dell-10.1-iM1018-Netbook-PC-with-Intel-Atom-N455-Processor-Windows-7-Starter/15737758

Laptop number 3 (Toshiba): http://www.walmart.com/ip/Toshiba-10.1-NB505-N508-Netbook-PC-with-Intel-Atom-N455-Processor-Windows-7-Starter/15738948

Laptop number 4 (Asus): http://www.walmart.com/ip/Asus-1015PN-PU17-WT/15421280

answers:

The first 3 laptops are essentially the same, but the Asus laptop is by far the better of the bunch. If you are willing to pay the small extra price for it, you get a dual core processor (instead of a single core) and Nvidia ION graphics (instead of crappy intel graphics), which is a HUGE improvement over all the other brands. Youtube and any games or videos will be smoother, and the computer will just be faster and smoother in general.

Personally, I also love Asus as a company. Every PC part I buy from them has been top notch, so I assume they make good netbooks too.

Helen asks…

how to remove ubuntu completely?

i installed ubuntu on my asus eee pc 1015pn netbook, without dualbooting. i heard it was good for gaming, but i couldn’t even figure out how to get certain games running, and i would just like to completely remove it. is there any way to just remove ubuntu and install windows xp? my netbook doesn’t have a disk drive, and i tried to install windows XP onto a hard drive using UNetBootin, but it wouldn’t boot off of the drive, and ubuntu won’t let me run the setup through WINE. need help ASAP.

answers:

Format your hard disk. Use a boot CD such as Hirentboot

Lizzie asks…

Will my 2GB ram upgrade work with both netbooks? It is made for Acer Aspire OneD260?

I want to try putting it in my new Asus Eee pc 1015pn but I’m not sure if it will work. I haven’t received the upgrade yet in the mail. But i have to send my Acer away to someone that just bought it from me so I might be left with the 2GB upgrade, but will it work in my Asus Eee?

It is a Kingston technology 2GB single modular 1066MHZ ram

answers:

AS long as the RAM is exactly the same as the ram already in the computer where you want to install it then it will work..

Otherwise different ram brand and speeds dont work together 90% of the time.
